Amelia Earhart, by me, Pen and Ink
75 years after Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan (navigator) disappeared somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, a photographic clue has revived the search for the wreck. This photo taken in 1937 (off the island of Nikumaroro) just mere months after the infamous wreck, shows a grey blob thought to be the wheels of her plane caught in the reef. The Obama administration and the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery is backing a crew to head out this summer of 2012, lead by Robert Ballard, discoverer of the Titanic to see what they can find. Emilia Earhart was an adventurer extraordinaire and personal hero of mine, I hope they can finally put this mystery to rest.
